Taxi
Mumbai has a huge fleet of black and yellow taxis. They are the best
travel option. Each one has a meter which is now out of date but the
driver carries a card indicating the correct fare corresponding to
the meter reading. Please ensure that the meter is flagged down at
the beginning of the journey. The silver and blue COOL CABS are air-conditioned
and radio despatched.
 Auto Ricksaw
Available only in the suburbs (Bandra and Sion onwards). Fare conversions
apply as per the card.
 Train
Mumbai has perhaps the best suburban electric train system in
the world. Best option for long distances. Trains run between 0430
and 0130 on three lines: Western, Harbour and Central. Avoid rush
hours (0700 - 1100 and 1600-2100).
 Buses
Mumbai's red double-decker buses are best for short distances in the
city The problem with bus travel is figuring out where the buses go
since the route maps sold at newstands are indecipherable. It is best
to make as many friends as possible at the bus queue. Somebody will
always help.
 Air-Conditioned Buses
Air-conditioned buses run between the World Trade Centre and Andheri
with several stops. The first bus leaves Andheri at 0655 and WTC at
0855. The last bus leaves Andheri at 1640 and WTC at 1840. They operate
Mon-Sat at 30-minute intervals.
